Microsoft Fabric - Edit the Connection Properties

Hi Team,

I am using the Microsoft Fabric and created the on Premise Gateway and created the ODBC connections which are used in the pipelines.

Now my On Premise Gateway and ODBC DSN has changed. So I want to Edit my existing connection to repoint my ODBC DSN & On Premise Gateway. But in connection level there is no option to edit these properties. Its allowing only to edit the Username & Password.

Can you please confirm, any other way to change the existing connection or only option is create a new connection and all the pipeline level need to point my new connection.

Regards,

Sathish Kumar

Hi @Sathish133

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum. Also , thank you @ABD128 for your quick response.

In Microsoft Fabric, the ability to edit connection properties for an existing on-premises data gateway connection is limited, particularly when attempting to update the On-Premises Data Gateway or ODBC DSN. Currently, the "Manage connections and gateways" interface allows modifications only to authentication credentials, such as username and password, and does not provide options to directly alter the gateway or DSN settings.

To address this, the recommended approach is to create a new connection with the updated gateway and ODBC DSN configurations. Once the new connection is established, you will need to reconfigure your pipelines to reference this new connection to ensure seamless integration with the updated settings.

For detailed guidance on setting up and managing connections, please refer to the Microsoft Learn documentation onData source management and How to access on-premises data sources in Data Factory .

Hi @Sathish133

In Microsoft Fabric, once a connection is created using an ODBC DSN and an On-Premises Gateway, these properties cannot be modified. The only editable fields are the username and password. Therefore, if your DSN or gateway has changed, the recommended approach is to create a new connection with the updated settings and update all associated pipelines or dataflows to reference this new connection. This ensures stability and alignment with current platform limitations.

If my response resolves your query, kindly Accept it.

Thanks.
